POTS AND PLANTERS TO CREATE YOUR GREEN CORNER

Date: April 13, 2023

Category: Garden

As you may have seen by now on the market there is such a wide range of planters that the choice could be really difficult. Beyond your personal tastes, the choice is actually conditioned by the space you have available, the type of plant you want to grow and the overall effect you want to achieve.

Here are a couple of questions you should ask yourself before making a purchase:

VASE OR PLANTER?

The answer depends on the space available, the plants you want to grow and last but not least the effect you want to achieve. To furnish a balcony, heavy and bulky planters probably won’t do. Better to opt for vase-shaped planters. But if you like the “jungle” or “vertical forest” effect, a mix of planters and vases is also very nice, to allow the cultivation of plants of different sizes.

WHAT MATERIAL SHOULD IT BE?

The wooden planters are aesthetically pleasing, they give a pleasant sensation of a natural and warm welcome. Wood is an excellent insulator and therefore protects plants from winter frost and drought. It is the best choice for growing those plants that are most affected by sudden changes in temperature.

Metal planters are visually striking and can be very elegant. On the market, there are different shapes and models. They are heavier than planters made of other materials, so moving them from one room to another is more complicated. Metal is not an insulating material, therefore they are not recommended for delicate plants in winter and summer.

Rattan planters are the most popular. Both natural and synthetic rattan is a very light and easy-to-handle materials, therefore perfect for interiors and balconies. It has a pleasant aesthetic, which gives ethnic atmospheres and an exotic mood to even the most modern gardens, but which really adapts to any type of plant. They are found in different colors, even if the most elegant are those in neutral and natural tones.

WHAT IS THE USE YOU WILL WANT TO MAKE OF IT?

HANGING PLANTER

These planters are equipped with supports to be able to hook them to a railing or a balustrade or instead be hung using a chain. These containers are mainly intended for annual and biennial flowering plants. The hanging effect of the flowers is really nice

VASE PLANTER

This type of planter is usually intended for plants to be grown individually. There are countless shapes, sizes and materials.

BOX PLANTER

They are intended for plant compositions or individual shrubs of medium size. For this reason, they usually have larger dimensions, generally from 40 cm to 1 meter in height, they can be rectangular or square and made of wood, resin or metal.

BOX PLANTER WITH ESPALIER

If you want to grow a climbing plant, boxes with espaliers or trellises are the ideal solution. Up to three plants can be planted in a rectangular box, but even more depending on the size; the plants will climb the trellises like a sort of pergola, with a very decorative effect.

Once you have chosen the material, shape and size, you can indulge yourself with color and play with combinations and contrasts to create the green corner of your dreams. Check out all our planters here.
