10 Years, Three Stores: The JYSK Malta Story
One Store. Three Locations. Ten Years in MaltaÂ
In 2016, JYSK opened the doors of its first store in Malta, in Lija.
What started with one store has grown considerably over the past decade. In 2021, Qormi became our second location, and in 2026, Burmarrad joined the family.
Today, JYSK Malta has three stores, an online shop, a much bigger assortment and a team of around 70 people working across our stores, logistics and offices.
And while the number of stores has changed, so has almost everything behind them.
The way we shop. The products we offer. The people who make JYSK Malta happen every day.
So, as we celebrate 10 years, we thought we’d look back at how we got here and, most importantly, celebrate the people who made it possible.
From One Small Team to Around 70 People
A growing business needs a growing team.
Today, around 70 people work across JYSK Malta, from Sales Assistants and Store Managers to Drivers and the teams working behind the scenes in our offices.
But perhaps the most interesting part isn’t just how much the team has grown. It’s how many people have grown with it.
Over the years, several colleagues who started as Sales Assistants have moved into different roles within the company. Some are now working in Marketing, others in HR, Customer Care and other areas of the business.
It is a reminder that a company doesn’t grow only by opening more stores. It grows through the people who are part of it.
And some of our colleagues have been here for eight years or more meaning they’ve seen almost the entire JYSK Malta story unfold.
The JYSK You Know Today Has Grown Too
Our core categories may feel familiar bedroom, living room, dining, storage, garden and homeware but the assortment within them has changed considerably over the years.
The range has grown, giving customers more choice than ever before, from larger furniture pieces to the smaller details that make a home feel personal.
And the way customers shop has evolved alongside it.
Today, more customers are shopping online, while small home items and furniture continue to be an important part of what people look for at JYSK.
And here in Malta, one category has always had a special place: Garden & Outdoor.
With our climate, outdoor spaces are an extension of everyday life, whether that’s a balcony, terrace, garden or somewhere to sit and enjoy a summer evening.
After 10 years, the JYSK assortment may look very different from where it started but the idea remains the same: making it easier to create a home that works for the way you live.
From Lija to Qormi to Burmarrad
There is something quite special about seeing the JYSK Malta story through its stores.
Three stores might sound simple, but behind every opening there are new colleagues, new customers, new products and a whole lot of work.
Each location has helped more people across Malta get to know JYSK and become part of the JYSK community.
And over the years, we’ve also worked to reach customers in areas where the brand was less familiar, including through printed magazines distributed in parts of the south of Malta.
Ten years later, more people know JYSK, more people shop with us and more Maltese homes have a little bit of JYSK in them.

10 Years of Growing With Malta
Looking back, the biggest change isn’t really one thing. It’s everything together.
Over the past decade:
- • One store became three, with Lija, Qormi and now Burmarrad.
- • A small team grew to around 70 people, across our stores, logistics and offices.
- • Our assortment grew significantly, giving customers more choice across the same familiar JYSK categories.
- • Online shopping became an increasingly important part of the JYSK experience, alongside our physical stores.
- • JYSK became a more familiar name across Malta, reaching new customers through our stores, online presence and initiatives such as our printed magazines.
But growth isn’t just about numbers.
It’s the Sales Assistant helping someone choose their first dining table. The Driver delivering a new sofa. The colleague answering a customer question. The team preparing another campaign. The people in the office making sure everything behind the scenes works.
It’s all these people, moments and changes that have shaped JYSK Malta over the past 10 years.
